Itineris participates in Microsoft CityNext

Itineris is committed to engaging government, businesses, and citizens to shape the next generation of cities
ATLANTA, October 30, 2015 — Itineris today announced it is working with Microsoft on Microsoft CityNext, an initiative designed to help governments, businesses, and citizens reimagine what is next for their cities. For the first time in history, more than 50 percent of the world’s population lives in urban areas and nearly 70 percent of people will live in cities by 2050. This ongoing migration creates unprecedented opportunities, but also intensifies problems such as aging infrastructure, hazards to public health and safety, pollution, crime, and traffic. Through the Microsoft CityNext initiative, Microsoft and Itineris will help leaders to do “new with less,” by combining the power of technology with innovative ideas to connect governments, businesses, and citizens with city services that increase efficiencies, reduce costs, foster a more sustainable environment, and cultivate communities where people thrive.
As part of CityNext, Itineris offers municipal utilities a modern, agile customer information system (CIS) built on and certified for Microsoft Dynamics AX. This solution, UMAX®, gives utilities a meter-to-cash business engine purpose-built for their specific operational and customer care needs. The tight CIS/ERP integration means that data can move more easily across the utility and city, resulting in better organizational performance.
For more than a decade Itineris has been focused on delivering best-in-class customer care and billing software to the utility industry. Itineris knows well the unique challenges of municipal utilities and has a UMAX customer base that includes such municipal water utilities as Antwerp Water Works (AWW), De Watergroep, Delta N.V. – “the multi-utility company”, and the City of Baltimore.
“Cities and utilities alike are facing many challenges today, but technology is changing the outlook and providing them with new opportunities. Itineris’ participation in Microsoft CityNext demonstrates our commitment to helping cities innovate now and modernize for the future. Microsoft solutions provide us with greater opportunities to help municipal customers transform their operations through familiar, secure technology and devices, better serve and engage with citizens and businesses, and deliver a flexible solution for today and the years ahead,” said Itineris President, North America John Beddingfield.
“We are thrilled to partner with Itineris on Microsoft CityNext. Microsoft prioritizes putting people and partners first in our initiatives and Microsoft CityNext is no different,” said Rob Bernard, Microsoft Chief Environmental Strategist and noted cities strategist. “Even though cities are feeling the strain from economic challenges, we believe a new era of innovation will create opportunities for people to utilize technology to accomplish what they never thought possible. We’re inspired by our diverse partner ecosystem and know that working together we can help cities realize their full potential.”
