Dunea selects UMAX CIS/ERP solution
April 4, 2017
UMAX at heart of business transformation as the Dutch water company looks ahead to streamline operations for the future.
Dunea, the water company responsible for providing clean water to 1.3 million Dutch citizens in the region surrounding The Hague, has selected Itineris’ UMAX customer information and enterprise resource planning solution (CIS/ERP) as the technology at the heart of a business transformation focused on modernizing the utility’s operations for the future.
The initiative known as “WAVE” within the Dunea organization—an acronym that translates to “We Work to Connect” in English—is focused on three primary goals:
- connecting customers to excellent water and service
- connecting processes within the Dunea organization to streamline operations
- connecting colleagues within Dunea for more efficient working
UMAX is built on Microsoft’s cutting-edge enterprise platform Dynamics 365 for Operations. UMAX supports core utility operations and customer care processes and is therefore central to Dunea’s business transformation initiative.
“We are restructuring how we do business from our technology foundation up,” noted Dunea CEO Wim Drossaert, “The streamlined workflows and interconnection capabilities of our new UMAX/Microsoft platform will improve information flow across our organization and help us collaborate across departments more effectively. And by leveraging a proven version of the solution for water utilities that Itineris has already successfully implemented before, we feel confident in the ability of our new UMAX solution to deliver more efficient operations and better service to our customers.”
UMAX for Water Utilities
“We are very proud to be selected by such a forward-looking water company as Dunea to be part of their business transformation,” noted Itineris Founder and CEO Edgard Vermeersch, “We look forward to helping them future-proof their operations and improve service to customers through the UMAX utility enterprise platform.”
Dunea and its customers will benefit from R&D investments by Itineris in recent years that are specific to water utilities—capabilities enjoyed by other Itineris utility clients such as De Watergroep, which manages 1.24M meters, and the City of Baltimore, which services more than 400,000 customers.
In fact, Dunea has chosen an adopt strategy for implementation rather than starting from scratch with its project, leveraging the technology and business process work that Itineris has done for nearby De Watergroep—a course that will improve both project efficiency and best practice adoption.
Dunea’s operational enhancements will also be due to the total integration of UMAX to the Dynamics enterprise platform and Itineris’ close partnership with Microsoft in the utility space—Itineris holds the status of Strategic ISV (formerly known as Global ISV partner).
About Dunea
Dunea is somewhat unique among the world’s water utilities in that it also manages more than 2000 acres of coastal dunes, which naturally filter approximately 75 million cubic meters of river water.
Dunea then delivers that water through more than 4300 kilometers of water pipes to over 600,000 connections.
In these ways, Dunea plays an important role in the lives of its customers as a provider of great tasting water and a protector of the environment—including publicly-accessed nature preserves it maintains on the dunes.
