That’s what our founder Edgard had in mind when he started Itineris.
While working in the sector, he noticed the problem isn’t people, their skills, or their motivation. It’s the software that overpromises and underdelivers, that doesn’t jive with their workflow, or that restricts rather than empowers.

Our company history
2003
Entering the European utility market
Itineris enters the European utility market, delivering software solutions for water and energy companies. The liberalization of the European energy market brings new players, accelerating Itineris’ growth.
2010 – now
Microsoft recognition
Itineris becomes a Microsoft Gold Partner (2010) and a Microsoft Independent Software Vendor (ISV) (2016). The company receives multiple Microsoft Inner Circle awards, placing it among the top 1% of global Business Applications partners.
2011
Strategic investments
Strategic investors fuel growth: PMV and Edgard Vermeersch (€4.5M, 2011), Gimv (2013), SmartFin (2018), FPIM (2020), and Alychlo (€16M, 2022). Itineris continues to invest heavily in its software solutions and customer expansion.
2012
Expansion into North America
The acquisition of U.S. consulting firm Crimson Oak enables rapid expansion in North America with customers including Boston Water & Sewer Commission, the City of Georgetown, the City of Tallahassee, the New York City Department of Environmental Protection, and more.
2016
UK & Ireland market entry
Itineris enter the UK&I market, adding major clients such as SSE, Guernsey Electricity, and Flogas Ireland.
2021
Strengthening data capabilities
The acquisition of Opinum SA, a Belgian data hub software company for utilities, strengthens Itineris’ capabilities in consumption insights and environmental impact.
2025
Cobepa becomes majority stakeholder
Cobepa acquires a majority stake, highlighting its confidence in Itineris’ strategy to become a global leader in advanced software solutions for utilities.

Launching Verity
Itineris launches Verity, an independent company that delivers real-time data solutions to support the energy transition.
